Tesco Shettleston Update

By Luzier Jeffrey, Community Champion

Well, another month over and a little more normality around us. How nice is it to see the shops open and to be able to go out for something to eat? We had another busy month in the store. We announced that our Bags of Help has been renamed Tesco Community Grants! Awards will be £1500, £1000 and £500 and will be awarded to one group from each of these categories: Children and Families project; Food Insecurity project; and Tesco local store nomination. How to apply or nominate a group is available on www.tescocommunitygrants.org.uk.

It was fantastic to celebrate Tesco and Cancer Research UK’s twenty years of collaboration with Race For Life. We turned Tesco pink and raised the fabulous amount of £1005.82! Thank you to everyone who donated during this three day event.

The next day was another celebration as Community of Helping Hands turned one year old! I was delighted to take a cake along and some snacks for the volunteers. This community food store has honestly been invaluable to so many people, not only for food but clothes and any other help that people need. If you are considering having an independent donation can or bucket please consider this organisation. As Tesco says... every little helps!

Keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook group - Lu’s Community Page - as we start to help out around the community and recruit some volunteers.
