Whether you're a seasoned dog lover or a first-time dog owner, you'll know that dogs love walkies. Here are three of the best parks in the east end of Glasgow that you can take your four-legged friend out to for a fun time.
1. Hogganfield Park and Loch
Hogganfield Park and Loch is a 2.1km loop trail, with its beautiful daffodils in the spring and swans keen for your loaf. A fun walk with the dog and family-friendly, this loch has a fascinating history as it is part of a series of kettle ponds that date back to the last ice age. This natural reserve is perfect for bird watching or for simply taking a stroll on the looped stretch of tarmac path all the way around. The park was awarded the Green Flag Award in 2013, a benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in Scotland.
2. Alexandra Park
If you live in the east end of Glasgow, you're most likely familiar with Alexandra Park as it is extremely popular with the local residents. Dog friendly with a pond and plenty of greenery, the highest point in this well-laid-out park gives sight of Ben Lomond and Tinto Hills. The black ornamental gates of the pedestrian entrance lead one to the formal rose gardens and water fountains. There's plenty to do and see at this park, whether with the pup or with family as there is a bowling green, two play areas, a multi-purpose outdoor gym, and a mountain bike course.
3. Tollcross Park
A beautiful and internationally famous park for its rose garden, this park has a good few surprises for you and your dog including a Glen nature walk and lots of fascinating streams. There is a fun children's farm for when you're not with your pooch, and picnic benches situated across the park for a rest and a snack.
