Tesco Shettleston Community Update

Welcome to the first update of 2026. Christmas is now a dark and distant memory, and we can all start to look forward to brighter mornings and evenings, and hopefully some decent weather.

December in store was extremely busy, as I am sure you can imagine. Lots of donations went out, and we hope we helped many schools, groups and organisations raise much-needed funds. I also had the pleasure of handing out free bags to children at the front of the store and giving out sweeties to brighten everyone’s day a little. The fact that I was dressed as an elf or a Christmas tree was entirely voluntary, I promise. We all need a laugh, don’t we?

January is always a little slower for donations, however we have donated socks and underwear to Thorntree Primary, raffle prizes to Golfhill Primary, and items for a fundraiser supporting the wonderful charity Calum’s Cabin, to name a few.

I am delighted to share that a new Crafty Dafties group will start on Wednesday 11 February in the Community Space from 12 noon to 3pm. Bring along your knitting, crochet or crafts, or simply come along for a chat. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided, and the group is self-funded at £1 per person per week.

We will also be holding a Crafty Dafties sale in the Community Space on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February, from 10.30am to 3pm.

Please remember that all donation requests must be submitted in writing, either in store or by email to glasgowshettleston.community@tesco.com.
