Tesco Parkhead Update

By Susan Wilson, Community Champion

Thanks to all our wonderful customers at Tesco Parkhead who donated £405.17 for Cancer Research UK and Race For Life over two days.

Our Tesco Bags Of Help is changing its name to Tesco Community Grants. Schools, charities, and groups can nominate themselves and our Tesco Parkhead customers can also nominate a group.

Here are the winners from January - March, who received £1,000 each, and how the grants will be used: The Centre Playgroup - to help with the multi-functional outdoor area in Mount Vernon Community Garden; East End Flat Pack Meals- to offer cooking classes as well as low cost meals; Police Scotland Youth Volunteers - to deepen engagement and improve relationships with young people in their community; Lodging House Mission - to teach vulnerable men and women to make nutritious meals for them to take away; Marfield Street Residents Committee G32 - to improve community gardens in Living Well complexes; Sacro Garden Project in Tollcross Park - to support people with barriers to learn new skills and get back to work.

As part of our Mental Health Award, Project Ability received £1,000 to help people with learning disabilities engage with green spaces. We were able to help Quarriers Family Resource Centre provide outdoor clothing to children aged 3-16 yrs to enable outdoor learning.
