With the pandemic I can’t actually believe how quick this year seems to be going! No more shielding, and masks everywhere is the general consensus now. However if this is now the ‘new normal’ then it’s time to welcome it with open arms. Let’s keep our fingers crossed we don’t end up with another lockdown!
I have been focusing on some of our local organisations who are helping people during these tough times. From Platform at The Bridge, to Community of Helping Hands. However one of the biggest events I have taken part in has been to help get the outside of Thistle Nursery in Easterhouse remodeled. In conjunction with City of Play the outside area is being completely changed to include a splash zone, sand pit and a whole new flooring system. Decorations will include rubber tyre planters and tyre seats. I, along with other volunteers, had great fun learning how to bolt the tyres together and how to make the seats. We are returning after the magazine goes to print to help finish the project so watch for completion pics next time!
As you know we have our permanent food collection point at the front of the store for Fareshare and West Of Scotland Food Bank. I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all our customers for their generosity during the past four months. I am emptying the point at least three times a week and although it’s a sad reflection of our the times just now, it’s amazing to see people think of others.
Please remember any requests for donations much be done in writing, which can be dropped into Customer Service or posted to the store. If you haven’t yet joined the Community Facebook page then please do - just search for Lu’s Community Page. This will keep you up to date with everything.
