Fullarton Hotel and Restaurant

The Fullarton Hotel on Tollcross Road quadruples as a hotel, function suite, bar and restaurant. The conservatory holds fifty alongside a marquee and beer garden providing outdoor seating for a further fifty. The restaurant is open from 9am to 10pm all week. Some Fullarton favourites on offer include steak & ale pie and classic fish & chips. Their two course lunch menu is £12.50 and their two course evening menu comes in at £15.50. Recommended dish: Fish Tacos or Peri-Peri Chicken served with either Cajun fries or spicy rice with the option of salad and spicy sauce. Simply spicelicious!



Bringing quality Italian cuisine to the east end of Glasgow since ‘99, Gia’s is a family-run restaurant with a deep-rooted passion for serving dishes made from family recipes handed down through generations. Delicious dishes on offer include their ever-popular Macaroni Cheese, Hot-Filled Focaccia, Pollo Milanese, Linguine al Funghetto, Pizza and Torta Tiramisu. Recommended dish: Branzino e Gamberetti. Fillet of Sea Bass Sauteed with King Prawns & cherry tomatoes in a white wine sauce. Bellissimo!


Kastriot’s Mediterranean Bar and Grill

As Baillieston’s only multi award winning restaurant, Kastriot’s is among the most reputable places to eat fresh Mediterranean cuisine in Glasgow with its deliciously fresh food, from risotto and pizza to healthy salads and pasta. Some of their dishes include Greek Chicken Pittas and Pork Souvlaki. Their lunch menu is £8.95 for one course and £12.95 for two courses. Special evening and a la carte menus also available. Recommended dish: Halloumi Fries are a firm favourite with customers of all ages. They always go down a treat with their spicy Napoli sauce. What’s not to love!


The Mailcoach

Worth visiting for the atmosphere alone, with its cosy decor and roaring log fire, but the food is also a good reason to go. The affordable, vast array of dishes available alongside the conservatory and beer garden puts The Mailcoach up there among the places in Glasgow east that are worth visiting for a family meal or a romantic date. Recommended dish: Chicken Balmoral - chicken breast wrapped in bacon and topped with haggis, served with potatoes, mixed veg and a creamy whisky or peppercorn sauce. Mmmm!


Route 50

Different from the others on this list, Route 50 offers American themed dishes that are made with fresh and locally sourced ingredients. From their Cowboy Burger, with BBQ drizzle, melted cheese and crispy bacon, to their loaded Mexicano Fries in cheese sauce topped with ground chilli beef, mozzarella cheese, chipotle drizzle, and garlic mayo.
