Tesco Shettleston Community Update

Hello everyone, and hope all is well! The clocks have gone forward and we can look forward to better weather and lighter evenings.

I was delighted to welcome David, the regional fundraiser for West of Scotland for Poppy Scotland to the store. He brought with him the great news that in 2024 our store raised an amazing £9536.42! I would like to say a huge thank you to all our customers who generously donated, to the amazing volunteers (especially Margaret McNab and Freya who sadly couldn’t make the cheque presentation), and to our craft group The Crafty Dafties - from the knitted poppies to the hankie covers and earrings along with the chocolate truffles and raspberry ruffles - everything went down a treat.

Whilst on the subject, the Crafty Dafties are having a Sale of Work on Saturday 5th April starting at 10am until around 4pm. This will be held in The Community Space and there will be a variety of items available - from hand knitted jumpers and cardigans up to age 3/4, tote bags, baby blankets and lovely winter accessories, along with much more. The funds raised will be split between local schools and nurseries chosen at random by the group and we will put all information on the notice board.

Donation requests were recently fulfilled for St Thomas School, Barmulloch Primary, fundraisers for Malawi, and St Paul’s Primary to name just a few.

We will be celebrating in-store over the Easter weekend with loads of activities including colouring-in, biscuit decorating, meet the Easter Bunny and the big competition - find the location of all the Easter eggs to enter the draw for a £25 Tesco voucher! This will be from 11am-3pm both Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th April. Please note all children must be accompanied by an adult.

The draw for find the Easter Eggs locations will take place on Monday 21st April and the winner will be contacted by myself.
