Tesco Shettleston Community Update

Updated: Jul 21, 2021

by Luzier Jeffrey, Community Champion

Well, last time we hoped for sunshine and we got some-here's hoping it continues!

If you have a child of nursery or school age, you will be aware that nursery graduations have been happening over the past couple of weeks. Using money from our library fund, I was able to give Beechwood Nursery in Wellhouse reusable banners and balloon stands along with balloons, and some pencil case fillers. I also arranged for two special visitors to come all the way from Adventure Bay! Yes, while the rest of the Paw Patrol kept Ryder safe, Chase and Marshall came to town. They had a fantastic time and wish all the children and staff a very happy summer!

Donations also went to St Maria Goretti Primary School, Molendinar Family Learning Centre, and towards the Pride picnic for the LGBTQ+ group at Eastbank Academy. The group was started in January 2021 and the school is proudly looking to attain the Bronze status from the LGBT Schools charter. Being awarded this status enables the school to send a positive message that the school is a champion of LGBTQ+ inclusion and that LGBTQ+ staff and learners will be safe, supported, and included. I want to wish them the best of luck and look forward to helping them celebrate when they achieve their Bronze status.
