Tesco Parkhead Extra Community Update August 2019

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

Tesco Parkhead Community Update

Thanks to our customers and friends in the community who continue to donate books to our fundraising library to help us help others; this month we donated £50 and a table football game to the Shettleston Men’s Shed, along with some goodies for their tea! We also donated £100 to the Peek Project (which bought 3 tents for their youth group), a trolley of food to the Carntyne Credit Union Foodbank and Homeless Street Team Glasgow, and a trolley of tombola prizes for Shettleston Community Growing Project’s funday.  We continue to support local community groups with surplus food, and still have a couple of nights available for food collection.

We supported Glasgow Sports, Thriving Places and SSF at Tollcross Leisure Centre “Splash Swim” programme and took along fruit, water and information. We also visited Golfhill Primary with a healthy and inviting spread of fruit and vegetables, encouraging the kids to try fruits they had never tasted before.

The voting for the Bags of Help Centenary Grants is underway; the Beatson Cancer Charity, Maggies Cancer Care Centre and Diabetes UK are in the running to win grants of £10,000, £15,000 and £25,000! Remember to pick up your wee blue voting token, available at every till.
