Morrisons Baillieston Community Update

Back in June, we held an Alzheimer’s Awareness Week and raised £663 for this amazing charity. I would like to thank Sandra, Jane, and Hugh, our kind volunteers, for all their help!

We made donations to five local schools, a nursery, Bealach House dementia day care centre, Lightburn Hospital, and the QEUH neuro rehabilitation unit (left).

We held our annual food drive appeal on behalf of Community of Helping Hands. Once again, the people of Baillieston and the surrounding areas donated an incredible amount of food to this worthwhile cause. If you or someone you know is struggling, pop along - they can help you.

We also invited Pathfinders to the store to raise money and awareness. They train Alsatian dogs to assist the blind and recently visited a local school to show the children a dog at work. The children have been collecting milk carton lids; they weigh and post them, and Pathfinders receive much-needed funds from the sale of the tops.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the local churches, cafés, and care homes who have been helping collect bottle tops for this amazing charity.

The store has been serving the community - first as Safeway, then as Morrisons - for 30 years this year. Many people in the local area have worked in the store at one time or another, with many good memories (and some not so good!). A handful of staff have been here since the beginning, and many others have over 20 years of service.
