Local Lifesavers

Since April, Garrowhill Community Council has been running free first aid classes – and they’re already making a big impact. Led by paramedic Andy McKinlay, the sessions have taught over 50 local residents how to perform potentially lifesaving CPR.

Mary and Carole from Hoolit Glasgow East magazine took part in one of the earlier classes, held at Mure Memorial Church on 28th May, and both highly recommend it. They’re encouraging everyone in the community to get involved.

These sessions are offered completely free, but the Council is fundraising to keep them going. The project is held in honour of Gordon Morrison, and his family have played a key role in helping to get it started.

Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, teen or just someone who wants to be prepared in an emergency, this training could make all the difference. It’s quick, practical, and might help you save a life one day.

Keep an eye on the Garrowhill Community Council website for details of upcoming sessions – and if you can support their fundraising, all the better.
