FARE Fundraising Campaign Launched

Writer: Hoolit AdminHoolit Admin

The award-winning FARE Community Allotment in Easterhouse, located on Drumlanrig Avenue in Easterhouse, suffered extensive damage in November due to a fire caused by vandalism. The blaze destroyed a newly built hut – affectionately known as The Chateau – and the polytunnel was vandalised beyond use. This devastating incident has left the allotment in urgent need of repairs and support.

The allotment – a vital resource for local nurseries, schools, adult clubs, and families – offers a space for the community to sow, grow, and harvest vegetables. It also provides valuable outdoor learning experiences through its sensory garden and mud kitchens for children, while offering a peaceful environment for birdwatching or enjoying time with friends of all ages. In its current state, community members are restricted in using the space until it’s deemed safe to explore again.

FARE, a voluntary organisation focused on tackling poverty, has launched a fundraising campaign to rebuild the allotment and replace what was lost to the fire. Community support will help restore this cherished space, ensuring it continues to offer opportunities for growth, learning, and connection.
