East End Kids Reach For The Stars

Eastend Empowering Stars is a dedicated project set up to promote good mental health and empower children’s mindsets throughout Glasgow’s east end.

They were founded in December 2019 and started operating in January 2020 running a mental health support group for children, activity sessions, workshops and much more.

In March 2020 the project, unfortunately, had to close its doors not long after opening in Dennistoun. They quickly worked out a plan to support more than 2000 children throughout the east end of Glasgow with activity packs, mental health support and financial support for parents and guardians.

The project also supported twelve young carers who, during the pandemic, had to look after parents or guardians. Despite being tough and most of the time an emotional experience the volunteers had to be brave and be there for the young carers. They supported them with self-care packs, food vouchers and tried their best to check up on the children’s welfare.

The project has also introduced a new service for children waiting to have professional support by CAMHS where they will be funding children’s counselling sessions if they have been waiting over a year to be seen.

During the pandemic, the project received some funding but mostly funded their support programme with sponsorships and public donations. They would like to thank everyone who has supported them so far. Demand to help people is high and if anyone can support this small but mighty project please get in touch or visit their social media pages and click on the donation link. Even the smallest donation will help.
