Following the success of their Saturday morning adult 5k walk/jog/run in Drumpellier Country Park, parkrun is hoping to start a junior 2k weekly event to be held every Sunday morning at 9.30am.
The family-friendly parkrun would be suitable for 4-14 year-olds but adults can join in with the kids too! It would be free and easy to take part (no special kit needed – wear whatever you like). The aim is for kids to have fun while being active, make friends, learn new skills (kids can volunteer in lots of roles) and feel happy and proud of
their achievements.
To get the junior event up and running (pardon the pun) there is a start-up cost of £3,000 plus a defibrillator to be funded. Parkrun is appealing to local businesses for financial support. Any business that donates will be named on the event’s website for one year.
As all parkrun events are free to enter and organised by volunteers, they are also appealing for new volunteers to help host the friendly and fun weekly event.
