In a busy month, Tesco Parkhead organised a litter pick with Onslow Drive Day Nursery and supplied fruit, water and treats. The store also donated juice, fruit and snacks to the new Riverside School in Dalmarnock to allow families to meet and mingle, and fruit and bottled water to local Brownies who were doing a sponsored walk.
The community bookcase raised £500 for the Ayrshire Hospice, and the phenomenal amount of £1008.25 for the Les Hoey Dreammaker Foundation - thanks to every customer who donated. The store continues to look for book donations to raise funds, this month for Race For Life.
The store supported and attended the PDC Thriving Places “What’s on Your Doorstep” event in the Forge Shopping Centre with many local community groups, where they gave out juice, water, fruit, treats and prizes to the local people.
There will be a food drive in-store on Friday 14th/Saturday 15th of June to support the Glasgow NE foodbank in the fight against poverty. If any local businesses or individuals would like to help by donating food or volunteering on either day, or if you know anyone who could lend a hand, please call Community Champion Susan Wilson on 07581 305281.
