Tesco Parkhead Extra Community Update January 2022

By Susan Wilson, Community Champion

Happy New Year to all our wonderful customers and best wishes for 2022.

Thank you to the amazing customers who donated toys, toiletries, cosy jammies and clothes in our Christmas appeal. Six cages full of presents were distributed between Golfhill Care Home, Halliday Foundation, Bridgeton Family Learning Centre, Bluevale Community Club, Parkhead Salvation Army and lots more.

We donated to Lodging House Mission, Carntyne Credit Union Foodbank, All2gethernow Homeless Street Team, Wallace House Homeless Unit, Tollcross Community, Carols in the Park and hundreds more throughout the year.

Thank you to every customer, friend and organisation for donations to our community bookcase last year. Your generosity meant we raised £4,208 to help local organisations.

Our store donated thousands of pounds worth of Lego sets to many primary schools, Peek Project, Fare and Greyfriars Community.

Thanks to local businessman Wullie of Alba Engineering for donating £400 to FARE Lochend Community Allotment to support local nurseries and schools in their outdoor learning.

Glasgow Times Schools of the Year Awards

FARE Lochend Community Allotment Schools Plots won the Glasgow Times Schools Of The Year Community Champion Awards for the amazing work taking place in Oakwood Primary, St Benedicts Primary, St Clare’s Nursery, FARE Play Nursery, Lochview Nursery and Lochend High School.
