Shettleston Extra Community Update April/May 2022

By Luzier Jeffrey, Community Champion

A huge hello from us all here at Shettleston. It has been a busy couple of months and looks like we will continue being busy which is fantastic. So what have we been up to?

Well, we gave donations to Shettleston Harriers, Beechwood Nursery, Sandaig Nursery, and more. A lot of donations are only possible due to our library fund, so a huge thank you to everyone who donates. We do have a lot of people who take but don’t donate which affects how much we raise. We only ask for 50p minimum per book. I’m always on the lookout for donations of good quality books and can arrange for them to be collected if needed.

During March we raised funds for Brain Tumour Research, and I would like to say thanks to the people who volunteered their time to help. We raised £162.70. I appreciate every penny donated as I understand times are getting harder for everyone.

Our fundraising for Cancer Research UK and Race for Life continues during our annual Tesco Turns Pink week. I’m delighted to be celebrating 21 years of Race for Life this year and looking forward to having some fun.

On Easter Saturday you will find me at Budhill Park in conjunction with Jiggly Joggers for the Easter Egg Hunt. Watch out for more details soon along with information on the appearance of a very special guest.

I have returned to volunteering and can be found most Tuesdays at Shettleston Community Growing Project. I am happy to help where I can and hope to be able to liaise more with local community groups. If you would like me to be involved, or see if I can help, get in touch by sending a letter to me at the store or by email luzierjeffrey1970@gmail.com.
