Morrisons Baillieston Community Update December 2020

The team at Morrisons Baillieston hope you and your families are keeping well during these challenging times.

We’ve been busy recently – here are some of the things we have been doing:

We took part in a charity bike ride for St Andrew’s Hospice cycling from Baillieston to Balloch, a total of 26 miles! We had a fantastic day and raised just under £400. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rebecca, Pauline and Graham for their participation and I am looking forward to the next challenge.

We had our Random Act of Kindness Week in store and gave out over £80 worth of gift cards, paid for a customer’s shopping and gave away enough biscuits to feed Baillieston twice!

We continue to support our local food banks and you can help by taking one of our Grab Bags from the front of the store, fill it up and leave it at the store drop-off point. We even had David Linden MP drop in and fill up a bag for Community of Helping Hands.

We also have a donation station in store for Homeless Project Scotland where you can donate long shelf-life food and toiletries and during the recent school holidays, we donated 30 lunch boxes daily to food banks to support local families.

We saw the launch of Elaine’s Book Club for Bernardo’s. This has been a massive success and brought new life to the community while the library has been closed.

We saw the first-ever Baillieston Halloween trail take place this year. It was fantastic to play a part in it and support the local community spirit. We had mascots from Homeless Project Scotland to greet the children so it only felt right to get the management team involved to hand out some treats.

We donated over 30 pumpkins to Bannerman High School to display in the Baillieston Police Station Pumpkin Patch and 18 pumpkins to Brighter Baillieston Juniors Youth Club for the children to carve.

The store was 25 years old in November. We had a week full of events and celebrations. I hope you managed to get along and join in the fun.

With Christmas coming soon we will be on the lookout for Santa. He’ll be out and about in the local area and he may even bring some friends. To find out more follow us on Facebook at Morrisons Baillieston Community.
