Brighter Baillieston Community Group is a registered charity run by a committee of four with a regular bank of volunteers serving Baillieston, Broomhouse, Garrowhill and Swinton. We are based at 6 Buchanan Street, Baillieston, G69 6DY (side entrance of the Police Station).
We offer a range of services for the community and both Baillieston Community Council and Garrowhill Community Council hold their monthly community meetings on the premises.
Throughout the year we plan seasonal and fundraising events in and around the community as well as weekly activities. These include Chair Yoga, Mat Yoga, Holistic Therapies and Community Cycle Days – all of these helps reduce isolation, build new friendships, and improve health and well-being.
Our vision is to create a thriving local community where residents and visitors feel welcome and supported. We aim to build strong working relationships with the local schools, police, groups and businesses in the area to build capacity and sustainability.
As spring approaches, we will be back at the Community Garden where we will move forward with hard landscaping to bring a relaxing, peaceful setting back to the area (previously known as the old Demonstration Garden) situated at the bottom of Iceland’s car park. There are lots still to be done so an hour of your time would be helpful!
Funders such as The National Lottery, GCVS, Northeast Area Partnership, Impact Funding Partners, Arnold Clark, NEHIT and Action Earth to name a few have allowed Brighter Baillieston to progress and continue offering our services in the community. We are extremely grateful to them!
